Aftercare Instructions

Tattoo Aftercare

Leave wrapped for one hour.

Wash 2x/day (3x for excessive sweating)

Wash with hand, water and NON-scented soap.

Dab dry with a towel or air dry; DO NOT RUB!

Apply NON-scented lotion (i.e.: lubriderm, aquafor or natural coconut oil)

DO NOT use A&D ointment, triple antibiotic ointment (Neosporin), or lubricating jelly (Vaseline).

DO NOT pick, scratch, play with or over-moisturize the tattooed area.

It takes about a month to heal. Itching and scabbing are normal. If touch-ups are necessary, make an appointment, once completely healed.

Piercing Aftercare

Ear Piercings

  • Clean piercing(s) 2-3x/day with warm water and antibacterial soap, using a q-tip. NO ALCOHOL OR PEROXIDE!
  • Do not twist or remove your piercing, when cleaning-- work around it.
  • Saline can be used in addition to cleaning, but not as an alternative.
  • Earlobe piercings can be safely changed at 8 weeks minimum. All cartilage piercings can take up to 12 months to completely heal.

WHAT TO EXPECT:

  • Initially, there will be some bleeding, localized swelling and possibly bruising.
  • During healing, there may be discoloration, itching, secretion of whitish-yellow fluid (not pus), that could form a crust around the piercing.
  • Once healed, the jewelry may not move freely throughout the piercing-- DO NOT FORCE IT!
  • If you fail to clean the piercing properly, a smelly discharge may accumulate.
  • The piercing may appear healed before the process is complete. Skin heals from the outside in, so be patient and continue cleaning your piercing throughout the entire healing process.

HEALED PIERCINGS CAN SHRINK OR CLOSE WITHIN MINUTES OF REMOVING JEWELRY, EVEN IN HAVING BEEN THERE FOR YEARS. IF YOU LIKE YOUR PIERCING, KEEP JEWELRY IN IT.

Surface Piercings (nostril, navel, eyebrows, etc)

  • Clean piercing(s) 2-3x/day with warm water and antibacterial soap, using a q-tip. NO ALCOHOL OR PEROXIDE!
  • Do not twist or remove your piercing, when cleaning-- work around it.
  • Saline can be used in addition to cleaning, but not as an alternative.
  • Do not change your jewlelry for a minimum of 12 weeks or up to 4 months. Piercings can take up to 12 months to completely heal.

Oral Piercings

  • Mouthwash with a non-alcoholic mouthwash, after you eat, drink, smoke, etc.
  • Avoid alcohol and smoking for the first 3 weeks after getting an oral piercing.
  • Do not change your jewlelry for a minimum of 8 weeks.

Dermal Piercings

  • Clean piercing(s) 2-3x/day with warm water and antibacterial soap, using a q-tip, beginning when you get home from getting your piercing. NO ALCOHOL OR PEROXIDE! Replace band-aid after each cleaning for 2 weeks.
  • It is important to be covered with a band-aid for two weeks, at all times (this ensures that your piercing heals flush and properly).
  • Do not twist or remove your piercing, when cleaning-- work around it.
  • Do not change your dermal top for 3 months. They can take up to 9 months to completely heal.

Genital Piercings

  • Clean piercing(s) 2-3x/day with warm water and antibacterial soap, using a q-tip. NO ALCOHOL OR PEROXIDE!
  • Do not twist or remove your piercing, when cleaning-- work around it.
  • Avoid sexual contact for the first 6 weeks.
  • Keep area clean and dry. Try to avoid sweating and strenuous activity for the first 6 weeks.
  • Do not change your jewlelry for 6 months. Piercings can take up to 12 months to completely heal.

WHAT TO EXPECT:

  • Initially, there will be some bleeding (some piercings may bleed more freely, than another for the first few days, such as triangles, ampallangs and apradavyas), localized swelling and possibly bruising.
  • During healing, there may be discoloration, itching, secretion of whitish-yellow fluid (not pus), that could form a crust around the piercing.
  • Once healed, the jewelry may not move freely throughout the piercing-- DO NOT FORCE IT!
